Ahh, that moment when a work colleague says something twattish to you and you can’t react because you’re ‘at work’… #gfy

She dreaded goodbye;
That he might kiss just her cheek,
Hold her at arm’s length…

A pregnant silence;
A chance to say 'I love you'.
She knew he wouldn’t.
Stood at the airport,
All he could say was: 'Goodbye'.
A single bullet.
Already, she knew,
She’ll never see him again.
Her heart plummeted.
She managed a smile,
A nonchalant adieu,
To match his charade.
She wheeled her suitcase
Towards Departures, and cried.
"I’m out of your life."

How can a memory as simple as you eating an octopus cause me so much pain? Momentary heart-stopping desolation.

I’m confused… They say if you love someone, let them go, and if they come back - they are yours. But did anyone write such advisory poetry on what to do if they leave once more?

Is that the finite end or is one meant to wait once more for twice the proof of true love?

Beauty and the Beast

Beast: I want to do something for her... but what?
Cogsworth: Well, there's the usual things: flowers... chocolates... promises you don't intend to keep...

Just had a delivery from South Africa… Sent by a very kind gentleman, who knows I love Oscar Pistorius.

This was sent in November and only just been delivered now! Thought it’s loss-in-transit was metaphorically representative of what happened in and since February 2013… Luckily not. I got it, instead, just as his bail conditions were relaxed to allow travel - perhaps even Russia in August?

Anyway, I was ecstatic to receive it today :) I’ll add it to ‘the collection’ of my Oscar cuttings… seems they might be few and far between now. The positive biases, anyway.

"I need to be bold
Need to jump in the cold water
Need to grow older with a girl like you
Finally see you are naturally
The one to make it so easy
When you show me the truth
Yeah, I’d rather be with you
Say you want the same thing too"

Oscar Pistorius: the two sides of South Africa

There is a political zeitgeist brewing in South Africa.

Suddenly the social frailties still existent in this post-apartheid era are being put under the microscope. One too many high-profile crimes have exposed the depth of damage woven into the fabric of the South African consciousness. And perhaps, finally, they are realising they are permitted a voice to demand something better.
